Chemical Properties
This product is brown or brownish powder, slightly peculiar odor, tasteless. Melting point 120℃. Soluble in water, almost insoluble in methanol, chloroform, benzene, cyclohexane and so on. This product is a kind of proteoglycan, protein content 25%-30%. It has anti-tumor activity both in vivo and in vitro. Its anti-tumor effect is related to its excitation of the body's anti-tumor immune function. Yunzhi polysaccharide can enhance the cellular immune function, and promote the delayed allergic reaction and lymphocyte proliferation reaction. It can also increase the production of interferon, interleukins 1 and 2 and prostaglandins. It can also normalize the low IgG and IgM of the tumor-bearing animals. In addition, it could not enhance the phagocytosis of macrophages in tumor-bearing animals. After oral administration, Yunzhi polysaccharide is absorbed from the digestive tract and distributed to organs and tumor tissues throughout the body, and about 70% of it is eliminated from the body within 24 h. It is mainly excreted in the form of carbon dioxide through the respiratory tract.
Uses
α1-Acid glycoprotein from human plasma has been used:
- as negatively charged protein to investigate the adsorption processes onto the surface of polyelectrolyte multilayers
- to incubate plates coated with purified antiserum in the study to investigate its serum concentration by ELISA
- to study the effect of its different concentrations on the antiviral activity of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) protease inhibitors
Uses
GLYCOPROTEIN, ALPHA1-ACID HUMAN was used to study nonviral gene delivery to the lung with copolymer-protected and transferrin-modified polyethylenimine.
General Description
α-1-Acid glycoprotein (AGP)/orosomucoid (ORM), a glycoprotein has a molecular weight of 41-43kDa. It is considered as one of the important acute phase proteins in humans and rats. AGP may belong to the lipocalin family.
Biochem/physiol Actions
α1-Acid glycoprotein possesses immunomodulating effects. It has the ability to bind to acidic drugs, like phenobarbital.
Purification Methods
Purify the glycoprotein 1 acid by passage through a carboxymethyl cellulose column, then through a Sephadex G-25 column. [Aronson et al. J Biol Chem 243 4564 1968.]
