6-(2,4-dimethoxybenzyl)-6,7-dihydro-5H-pyrrolo[3,4-b]pyridine (34.9 mmol) was added in a dry flask under nitrogen. Trifluoroacetic acid (27) and triethylsilane were added to the mixture. ml) and triethylsilane (6.0 ml) were added to the reaction mixture. The reaction mixture was stirred. The reaction mixture was heated at 60 C for 5 hours. for 5 hours. The volatiles were removed under vacuum to give a viscous oil. HCl (4 M in dioxane, 40 ml) was added to the residue, followed by ethyl acetate (50 ). ml). The reaction mixture was stirred vigorously for about 1 h at room temperature to provide a precipitate. The solid was separated by filtration. Wash the solid with ethyl acetate (25 ml). Vacuum dry the solid.
