Description
The major alkaloid of Psy ch 0 tria beccarioides, this base has only recently been
isolated and characterized. The structure is related to that of Hodgkinsine (q.v.),
being the pentameric analogue. The constitution, based upon mass spectrometric
data has been further confirmed by its conversion, through a pentamethiodide
into a pentaindolenine base which is analogous to the tri-indolenine base obtained
from hodgkinsine.
Uses
Psychotridine is a natural alkaloid isolated from Psychotria colorata, reveals an analgesic activity in nervous system and an inhibitory efficacy towards platelet aggregation[1][2].
Definition
ChEBI: Psychotridine is a pyrroloindole.
in vivo
Psychotridine (0-10 mg/kg, i.p., single dosage) exhibits in albiono CF-1 mice an analgesic activity in a dose-dependent manner towards pains induced by heat and capsaicin without motor deficits [1].
| Animal Model: | albino CF-1 mice[1] |
| Dosage: | 0-10 mg/kg |
| Administration: | i.p., single dosage |
| Result: | Reduced the heat- and capsaicin-induced pain. |
