Acetone oxime

Acetoxime (CAS No. 127-06-0, molecular formula C₃H₇NO) is a white needle-like or flaky crystal with a special odor similar to chloral hydrate. It is readily soluble in organic solvents such as water, ethanol, ether, and acetone, easily hydrolyzed in dilute acid, and sensitive to moisture. It mainly serves as an important organic synthesis intermediate, with wide applications in the preparation of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, dyes, and organosilicon coupling agents. It is also a commonly used analytical reagent for the detection or determination of metal ions such as cobalt and nickel. In addition, due to its strong reducing properties, acetoxime is also used as a new chemical oxygen scavenger for medium- and high-pressure boiler feedwater and as a metal passivator during the shutdown (standby) period of thermal equipment, effectively preventing equipment corrosion. It should be noted that this chemical is sensitive to moisture, should be stored sealed in a cool and dry place, and inhalation of dust and contact with skin should be avoided.
