Aromasin (exemestane) is an aromatase inhibitor used in the treatment of hormone-sensitive breast cancer. It works by reducing the levels of estrogen in the body, preventing the growth of estrogen-dependent cancer cells.

Function:
Aromasin inhibits the aromatase enzyme, which is responsible for converting androgens into estrogens. By lowering estrogen levels, it helps to stop the growth of estrogen-receptor-positive breast cancer cells, particularly in postmenopausal women.

Applications:

· Breast Cancer Treatment: Primarily used for the adjuvant treatment of estrogen-receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women.

· Hormone Therapy: Used in the prevention of cancer recurrence and to treat advanced-stage breast cancer.

· Cancer Risk Reduction: Sometimes prescribed as a preventive measure for women at high risk of breast cancer.
