Definition:
Cefamandole is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial cell death.

Function:
Cefamandole is effective against a broad spectrum of both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It has enhanced activity against certain pathogens compared to first-generation cephalosporins and is also more stable against beta-lactamase enzymes.

Applications:

· Respiratory infections: Used to treat pneumonia, bronchitis, and other lower respiratory tract infections.
