After oral gastrointestinal absorption, it is converted into dabigatrun with direct anticoagulant activity in vivo, which prevents the cleavage of fibrinogen into fibrin by binding to the fibrin-specific binding site of thrombin, thus blocking the final step of the coagulation cascade network and thrombosis. Dabigatrun can also dissociate from fibrin-thrombin complexes and exert reversible anticoagulant effects.
