The SYT9 antibody is a research tool designed to detect Synaptotagmin 9 (SYT9), a member of the synaptotagmin family of calcium-sensing proteins involved in membrane trafficking and synaptic transmission. SYT9 is characterized by two conserved C2 domains (C2A and C2B) that mediate calcium-dependent interactions with membranes and other proteins. While its paralogs, such as SYT1. are well-studied in neurotransmitter release, SYT9's precise biological role remains less defined. It is implicated in regulating hormone secretion, insulin exocytosis in pancreatic β-cells, and possibly vesicular transport in non-neuronal tissues.
