CIR1 (Crossover junction recognition protein 1), also known as C1orf177 or Holliday junction recognition protein (HJURP), is a key protein involved in DNA repair and genome stability. It specifically recognizes and binds to Holliday junctions, which are critical intermediates in homologous recombination repair (HRR) during DNA double-strand break (DSB) repair. CIR1 plays a vital role in facilitating the resolution of these structures, ensuring proper chromosome segregation and preventing genomic instability. Additionally, CIR1 is essential for the assembly of the kinetochore, a protein complex that mediates chromosomal attachment to the mitotic spindle during cell division.

Antibodies targeting CIR1 are widely used in molecular and cellular biology research to study its function in DNA repair mechanisms, chromosome dynamics, and cell cycle regulation. These antibodies enable the detection and localization of CIR1 in various experimental setups, including immunofluorescence, Western blotting, and chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP).
