The COL25A1 antibody targets collagen type XXV alpha 1 chain (COL25A1), a transmembrane collagen primarily expressed in the central nervous system (CNS). COL25A1 is a component of the extracellular matrix and is notably associated with amyloid-beta (Aβ) plaques in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). It is synthesized by neurons and accumulates at synaptic sites, where it interacts with Aβ peptides, potentially influencing plaque formation and stability. Research suggests COL25A1 may serve as a scaffold for Aβ deposition, contributing to neurotoxicity and disease progression.

COL25A1 antibodies are critical tools for studying its role in neurodegenerative disorders. They enable the detection of COL25A1 in brain tissues via immunohistochemistry, Western blotting, or ELISA, helping to map its distribution in normal and pathological conditions.
