The SNX27 (Sorting Nexin 27) antibody is a key tool for studying the role of SNX27. a protein involved in intracellular trafficking and receptor recycling. SNX27 belongs to the sorting nexin family, characterized by a phosphoinositide-binding PX domain. Unlike other sorting nexins, SNX27 uniquely contains a PDZ domain that binds to specific cargo proteins, facilitating their retrieval from endosomes to the cell surface. This function is critical for maintaining cellular homeostasis, particularly in neurons, where SNX27 regulates synaptic receptor trafficking and signaling.

Research has linked SNX27 to neurodevelopmental disorders and neurodegenerative diseases. For example, SNX27 deficiency is associated with intellectual disability and Down syndrome, while its interaction with the Retromer complex impacts Alzheimer’s disease pathology by modulating amyloid precursor protein (APP) processing.

SNX27 antibodies are widely used in techniques like Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, and immunofluorescence to detect SNX27 expression, localization, and protein interactions. These antibodies are often validated using knockout cell lines or tissues to ensure specificity.
