The CNBP antibody targets the Cellular Nucleic Acid Binding Protein (CNBP), also known as zinc finger protein 9 (ZNF9), a highly conserved protein encoded by the CNBP gene. CNBP is a single-stranded nucleic acid-binding protein containing seven zinc knuckles, which facilitate interactions with DNA and RNA. It plays a regulatory role in transcription and translation, influencing processes such as ribosomal RNA synthesis, mRNA stability, and translational control. CNBP is implicated in cellular proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis, with roles in embryonic development and tissue homeostasis.

Research highlights its association with neuromuscular disorders, particularly myotonic dystrophy type 2 (DM2), where abnormal CCTG repeat expansions in the CNBP gene disrupt RNA processing. Antibodies against CNBP are essential tools for studying its expression, localization, and function in both physiological and pathological contexts. They are widely used in techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence to investigate CNBP's involvement in diseases, including neurodegeneration, cancer, and muscle atrophy. Recent studies also explore its potential role in RNA granule dynamics and stress response pathways. Despite progress, the precise molecular mechanisms of CNBP remain under investigation, underscoring the importance of specific antibodies for ongoing research.
