The GEMIN4 antibody is a crucial tool for studying the GEMIN4 protein, a component of the survival of motor neuron (SMN) complex. This multi-protein complex, which includes SMN1. GEMIN2-8. and other partners, plays a central role in small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) assembly, spliceosome formation, and pre-mRNA splicing. GEMIN4 directly interacts with GEMIN3 (a RNA helicase) and contributes to the structural integrity and functional coordination of the SMN complex. Research using GEMIN4 antibodies has linked this protein to spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), as SMN complex dysfunction impairs snRNP biogenesis, leading to motor neuron degeneration. Additionally, GEMIN4 is implicated in miRNA processing, DNA repair, and cellular stress responses.

GEMIN4 antibodies (commonly rabbit or mouse monoclonal/polyclonal) enable detection and localization of the protein via techniques like Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, and immunofluorescence.
