The KRT76 antibody targets keratin 76. a member of the type II keratin family, which are intermediate filament proteins critical for maintaining epithelial cell structure and integrity. KRT76 is primarily expressed in stratified epithelial tissues, such as the skin, hair follicles, and mucosal surfaces, where it contributes to mechanical resilience and cellular differentiation. Its expression is often associated with terminally differentiated keratinocytes, suggesting a role in tissue barrier formation and homeostasis.

Research involving KRT76 antibodies has focused on understanding epithelial biology, particularly in contexts like wound healing, inflammatory skin disorders, and cancer. Aberrant KRT76 expression has been observed in squamous cell carcinomas and other epithelial malignancies, where it may serve as a biomarker for tumor progression or differentiation status. Additionally, KRT76 is studied in genetic disorders affecting keratinization, such as pachyonychia congenita, though it is not a primary causative gene.

Commercially available KRT76 antibodies are widely used in immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence (IF), and Western blotting to map protein distribution in tissues or assess expression levels in disease models. Validation studies often emphasize specificity toward human and murine KRT76. with applications in both research and diagnostic pathology. Ongoing work explores its interactions with other keratins and signaling pathways, highlighting its potential in therapeutic targeting for epithelial-derived diseases.
