Integrin alpha-6 (ITGA6), a transmembrane receptor subunit, forms heterodimers with beta subunits (e.g., β1 or β4) to mediate cell adhesion to laminin in the extracellular matrix. It plays critical roles in cell migration, survival, and tissue development, particularly in epithelial and stem cell niches. Dysregulation of ITGA6 is implicated in cancer progression, as its overexpression in tumors (e.g., breast, pancreatic, and glioblastoma) often correlates with enhanced invasion, metastasis, and poor prognosis.

Antibodies targeting ITGA6 are valuable tools for studying its function and therapeutic potential.
