PHF8 (Plant Homeodomain Finger Protein 8) is a member of the JmjC domain-containing histone demethylase family, which plays a critical role in epigenetic regulation by removing methyl groups from specific lysine residues on histones. Primarily localized in the nucleus, PHF8 targets histone H3 lysine 9 (H3K9me2/me1) and H4 lysine 20 (H4K20me1), modulating chromatin structure and gene expression.
