DDX6. also known as Rck/p54. is a conserved RNA helicase belonging to the DEAD-box protein family, characterized by its ATP-dependent RNA unwinding activity. It plays critical roles in various RNA-related processes, including mRNA translation regulation, RNA degradation, and miRNA-mediated gene silencing. DDX6 is a key component of cytoplasmic P-bodies (processing bodies) and stress granules, where it participates in mRNA storage, decay, and post-transcriptional control. Its involvement in repressing translation during stress conditions and modulating RNA-protein interactions makes it essential for cellular adaptation to environmental changes.

Antibodies targeting DDX6 are widely used in molecular and cellular biology to investigate its spatial-temporal expression, subcellular localization, and functional interactions. These antibodies enable techniques like Western blotting, immunofluorescence, immunoprecipitation, and RNA-protein co-localization studies. Research using DDX6 antibodies has revealed its association with viral replication (e.g., hepatitis C virus), cancer progression (via regulation of oncogene expression), and germline development.
