GOLPH4. also known as Golgi phosphoprotein 4 or GP73. is a type II transmembrane protein predominantly localized to the Golgi apparatus. It plays a role in maintaining Golgi structure and facilitating vesicular trafficking, though its precise molecular mechanisms remain under investigation. Initially identified as a resident Golgi protein, GOLPH4 gained attention due to its upregulated expression in various pathological conditions, particularly liver diseases and cancers. For example, elevated serum GP73 levels are considered a potential biomarker for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, offering diagnostic advantages over traditional markers like alpha-fetoprotein (AFP).

GOLPH4 antibodies are essential tools for studying its expression, localization, and function.
