How should aniline be treated in wastewater?

Apr 3,2026

Currently, a variety of methods for removing aniline from aqueous solutions have been reported, including flocculation, remediation techniques, magnetic catalysts, electropolymerisation, UV/persulphate methods, electrochemical treatment and photocatalytic oxidation. In recent years, advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) have demonstrated potent oxidative capabilities, enabling the effective degradation of recalcitrant pollutants such as aniline. These processes typically utilise various combinations of hydrogen peroxide, ozone, nanoparticles and UV irradiation to generate reactive species, including hydroxyl radicals (•OH) and superoxide anions (O₂•⁻). AOPs are widely used as heterogeneous photocatalysts for the degradation of environmental pollutants. Among these, heterogeneous photocatalytic oxidation utilising titanium dioxide nanoparticles, hydrogen peroxide and UV irradiation has been proven to be an effective method for degrading recalcitrant pollutants.
