How to maintain the high activity of α-Lipoic Acid?

α-Lipoic Acid, as an essential cofactor for various mitochondrial enzyme complexes involved in energy metabolism, is essentially a vitamin-like substance (vitamin N) with strong antioxidant properties. However, α-Lipoic Acid is not stable enough due to environmental influences. Therefore, in cosmetic applications, composite materials based on kaolin and α-lipoic acid can improve the photodegradation resistance of pharmaceuticals or sunscreens. Adding α-lipoic acid to kaolin using a vacuum method not only increases the UV resistance of kaolin by 84.4% but also enhances its heat resistance. This composite material retains the bioactivity and shelf life of α-lipoic acid.
