Is 1-Naphthol safe for use as an oxidising colouring agent for hair dyeing?

Yes. 1-Naphthol is a light yellowish-white solid, slightly soluble in water, soluble in alkali and in organic solvents. The SCCNFP is of the opinion that 1-Naphthol can be used safely as a oxidising colouring agent for hair dyeing at a maximum authorised concentration of 2.0% in the finished cosmetic product.Its main hazards include: harmful if swallowed, toxic in contact with skin, causes skin irritation and serious eye damage.
