Is 4-Aminobutyric acid (GABA) safe?
Apr 9,2026
GABA, also known as 4-aminobutyric acid, is an amino acid that is widely distributed among vertebrates, plants, and microorganisms. Research has demonstrated that even when a relatively high dose, such as 6 g of GABA per day, is administered, no obvious side effects are observed in volunteers, suggesting the favorable biosafety of GABA. However, it is noteworthy that current studies have revealed that GABA is not conducive to the anti-tumor response.
