Is 4-Aminobutyric acid (GABA) safe?

GABA, also known as 4-aminobutyric acid, is an amino acid that is widely distributed among vertebrates, plants, and microorganisms. Research has demonstrated that even when a relatively high dose, such as 6 g of GABA per day, is administered, no obvious side effects are observed in volunteers, suggesting the favorable biosafety of GABA.
