What are the applications of silicon in EV batteries and solar energy?

Silicon is the second most abundant element on earth after oxygen, representing nearly 26% of the earth's crust by mass. The element silicon is used extensively as a semiconductor in solid-state devices in the computer and microelectronics industries. For this, hyperpure silicon is needed. The silicon is selectively doped with tiny amounts of boron, gallium, phosphorus or arsenic to control its electrical properties. Silicon has long been recognized as a promising active anode material. Using it as an active anode material could make batteries hold more energy and charge faster, enabling EV range to grow vastly.
