What are the conditions for detecting 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) by HPLC?

When detecting 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF), we commonly use reversed-phase HPLC (RP-HPLC) with a C18 column, UV detection at 284–285 nm, and isocratic elution. Standard conditions use water/methanol or water/acetonitrile mixtures (e.g., 90:10 to 95:5) at a 1 mL/min flow rate, enabling analysis times of under 10 minutes.
