What are the effects of bisphenol A and its analogues on human health?

Apr 22,2026

Bisphenol A is a compound that has been definitively shown to be toxic to humans, potentially leading to obesity, coagulation disorders, reduced germ cell quality and infertility. Both bisphenol A and bisphenol PH exhibit antiplatelet effects. Bisphenol PH may also increase the risk of bleeding. Exposure to bisphenol A also impairs sperm activation in male nematodes and significantly reduces offspring numbers. From a chemical structural perspective, it is a synthetic oestrogen and endocrine disruptor that affects the growth, development and physiological functions of organisms. In terms of its applications, it is a ubiquitous environmental pollutant, widely used in the global plastics industry for the production of polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins, and is present in all ecosystems.
