Tranexamic acid (sometimes shortened to TXA) is a medicine that controls bleeding. It helps your blood to clot and is used for nosebleeds and heavy periods. It can also help if you have a condition that causes swelling under the skin (hereditary angioedema). Some people who take TXA have mild nausea, headaches or a runny or stuffy nose. Call your doctor's office if you or your pharmacist have any questions about TXA or if your bleeding is very heavy despite taking TXA.
