Dichloromethane is a toxic solvent. Direct contact with the skin causes a sensation of heat accompanied by an instantaneous burning sensation. It is irritating to the eyes, skin and nose. Inhalation causes anaesthesia, nausea and a feeling of intoxication. In severe cases, it may lead to bidirectional ventricular tachycardia (BVT), followed by cardiac arrest.
