What are the main uses of Cyanamide in agriculture?
Apr 21,2026
Cyanamide, commonly referred to as monocyanamide, is a biologically active cyano-containing organic compound. Its primary agricultural use is as a plant dormancy-breaking agent for deciduous fruit trees such as grapes, cherries, peaches, and kiwifruit. It can effectively release bud dormancy, promote uniform sprouting and earlier flowering and fruiting, especially in regions with insufficient winter cold where natural dormancy is hard to break. In addition, cyanamide also exhibits certain bactericidal, herbicidal, and insect-repellent effects, making it a widely used functional agrochemical in protected cultivation and early-maturing production systems.
