In cosmetics, it is primarily used as a fragrance component and solvent. In the field of chemical synthesis, it serves as an organic raw material. In the presence of a base, diacetone alcohol reacts with benzaldehyde to form 4-phenylmethylene-5-hydroxy-5-methyl-1-phenyl-1-hexen-3-one, which is subsequently converted into diphenylmethyleneacetone. Furthermore, it is also used in industrial coatings, household cleaning agents, inks, paints and thinners, pharmaceutical preparations, sealants, and other applications.
