What bacteria can benzoic acid cream inhibit?

Benzoic acid is a common preservative widely used in the skincare industry due to its antifungal and antibacterial properties. Studies have shown that benzoic acid exhibits inhibitory and bactericidal effects against multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae at concentrations of 2–4 mg/mL. Lanette ointment, containing 2% miconazole, 3% salicylic acid and 6% benzoic acid, exhibits inhibitory activity against T. mentagrophytes. Furthermore, benzoic acid can also inhibit multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
