The polyimides from 4,4'-(Hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic anhydride (6FDA) are popular to use for mixed-matrix membranes.
The polyimide matrices provide good dispersion for the fillers and can
load up to 50 wt% of the fillers. Those membranes have found their
applications in highly selective gas separation (CO2/CH4) and solar cell encapsulation (the power conversion efficiency of Si-based solar cells is enhanced from 14.67% to 15.64%).
