What is 3-Amino-1,2,4-Triazole?

3-Amino-1,2,4-Triazole is a triazole-based pharmaceutical intermediate compound. It is obtained by replacing the hydrogen atom at the 3-position of the 1,2,4-triazole ring with an amino group. Its CAS number is 61-82-5, molecular formula is C₂H₄N₄, and molecular weight is 84.08. 3-Amino-1,2,4-Triazole can be used as a herbicide, characterised by high solubility and ease of penetration into surface water and groundwater, for controlling grass weeds and broadleaf weeds. It can also be used as a reagent for detecting amino acids and their oxidase enzymes.
