What is vonoprazan fumarate used for?
Jan 21,2026
Vonoprazan fumarate is a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) that exerts a potent and long-lasting inhibitory effect on gastric acid secretion by competitively binding to the potassium ion-binding site of the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme in the parietal cells of the stomach, and it is clinically used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers (including gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers), as well as for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection when combined with appropriate antibiotics, effectively relieving symptoms such as heartburn, acid reflux, and abdominal pain caused by excessive gastric acid.
