Mar 30,2026
Benzylamine is used as an important building block in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, known for its role in the synthesis of various N-heterocycles and its involvement in oxidative reactions with different catalysts. Benzylamine reacts with acids forming benzylammonium salts. It reacts with acetyl chloride to form N-benzylacetamide, an exemplar of the Schotten–Baumann reaction. Benzylamine is harmful if swallowed or inhaled, eye contact may lead to permanent damage.
