What skin conditions can glycolic acid be used to treat?
Apr 7,2026
Glycolic acid (GA), as a superficial peeling agent, corrects keratinisation abnormalities and accelerates melanin metabolism. Studies have shown that it can be used as an adjunctive treatment for keratosis pilaris (KP). Combination therapy using YAG laser (1064 nm) and 30% glycolic acid has a synergistic effect in the treatment of keratosis pilaris, not only significantly improving skin texture but also demonstrating good safety. Furthermore, GA can also be used to treat melasma. The efficacy of 35% GA in treating melasma is comparable to that of 4% retinoic acid, and it can significantly improve pigmentation.
